A DERMATOLOGIST EXPLAINED THE BEST TIME TO WASH YOUR FACE
A dermatologist has named the best time to wash your face.
The doctor noted that in one case, there is no need to rush with washing your face in the evening.
Most people wash their faces every day almost automatically, rarely considering whether the time is right. Whether there’s an ideal time for this procedure , John Kibby, an associate professor of dermatology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, explained, according to Health .
According to the doctor, there’s no hard and fast rule, and everyone can tailor their skincare routine to their lifestyle. However, the tried and true “once in the morning and once in the evening” regimen is suitable for most people.
“You can definitely wash your face once or twice a day. I think morning and evening are good times to do it,” Kibby said.
As the dermatologist explains, there’s no significant difference in the morning routine. You can wash your face in the shower or afterward. If you exercise during the day or sweat heavily, the doctor advises, you can shift the time of your wash.
Evenings are a different matter. Here, according to Kibbe, more care is needed, especially for those who apply retinoids or other nighttime products before bed.
“I would avoid doing it at, say, 5 p.m. if you still have a ton of product to apply, and it’s better to do it closer to when you actually go to bed,” he explained.
But for those who only wash their face once a day, there’s no single best time, the expert notes. Morning or evening—your schedule decides.
At the same time, the doctor gave one piece of advice to those who find it difficult to adhere to the regimen.
“If we see that we try to wash our faces in the morning, but due to our schedule or daily routine, it is difficult to do this consistently every day, then I would probably say that it is better to wash our faces in the evening,” the dermatologist concluded.
