FINES FOR THOSE WHO LISTEN TO MUSIC WITHOUT WEARING HEADPHONES IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Britain is introducing fines for listening to music and videos without headphones on public transport.
A nationwide campaign has been launched in the UK encouraging passengers to use headphones.
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham launched a campaign against disruptive riders on public transport, empowering local transport authorities to issue fines of up to £100 (just over 6,000 hryvnias) to passengers who listen to music or watch videos on public transport without headphones. This habit was previously recognized as one of the worst new travel trends .

“We’ve all been on a train at least once, and someone is blasting music or videos from their phone at full volume. It’s nerve-wracking and can quickly ruin the entire journey. That’s why we’re launching a nationwide campaign encouraging passengers to use headphones… It might seem like a small thing, but it will make our journeys a little more comfortable for all of us,” The Independent quotes Burnham as saying .

According to a recent YouGov poll, over 60% of respondents support taking action against those who play music or videos at full volume. Moreover, people are willing to go much further than the government’s proposed measures: they advocate increasing fines tenfold to £1,000 (approximately 60,130 hryvnias).
Additionally, under the new bus law, local authorities have been given new powers to combat vaping and littering on buses.
