TOWERS THAT HAVE BEEN STANDING FOR 50 YEARS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC WERE BLOWN DOWN

They were taller than the Eiffel Tower: in the Czech Republic, towers that had stood for 50 years were blown up (video)
Hundreds of people gathered at the site of the explosion.
In the Czech Republic, two identical Liblice B towers, located near Český Brod, were recently demolished. According to Rzeczpospolita , they were built in 1976, and each stood 355 meters tall, taller than the Eiffel Tower.

These towers had service elevators that were powered by internal combustion engines rather than electricity, and it took technicians approximately 45 minutes to reach the very top.

“These were once the most powerful medium-wave transmitters in Central Europe, with a capacity of 1.5 MW. For nearly five decades, they were also considered the tallest structures in the Czech Republic,” the statement noted.

For a long time, České Radiokomunikace, the company responsible for the Liblice B towers, did not want to disclose the exact time of their demolition due to safety concerns.
“Only on the day of the explosion did she announce that the event would take place between 11:00 and 12:00. Hundreds of people gathered at the site with mobile phones, binoculars, and folding chairs to admire this impressive spectacle. A security cordon surrounded the area. At 11:15, both masts were simultaneously detonated. It took about ten seconds for them to be leveled,” the article emphasized.

Why were the towers demolished?
These structures have given way to modern technology. In the age of satellite and fiber-optic network development, radio masts are becoming increasingly less necessary. The structure also needed modernization, which, according to estimates by České Radiokomunikace, would cost approximately 170 million Czech crowns.

“Thus, the tallest structure in the Czech Republic is no longer located near Český Brod, but in the Plzeň region. That title has been passed on to the Krášov transmitter, which provides television and radio coverage to western Bohemia and, on sunny days, also serves as a time display. The structure’s height is 347.5 meters, seven and a half meters shorter than the mast in the village of Liblice,” adds Rzeczpospolita.
