THE PRICE OF AN EGG SHOCKED A TOURIST THE BILL WENT VIRAL ONLINE

Prices at chalets in the Tatra Mountains (the highest part of the Carpathians belonging to Poland and Slovakia) often surprise holidaymakers, but this time a simple breakfast surcharge caused a stir on social media.

A man named Waldek posted a photo online of a receipt showing that an item was significantly more expensive than expected.

Having visited the Tatra Mountains many times, the traveler considered himself an experienced expert on local conditions and was sure that the mountains would no longer surprise him. But in his own words, this time he had to admit: “To make mistakes is human.”
The receipt shared by the tourist was dated October 2. The total amount was 124 zlotys (about 1,426 UAH). The bill included two breakfasts worth 32 zlotys (~368 UAH), two lemon teas worth 12 zlotys (~138 UAH), two portions of bread worth 2 zlotys (~23 UAH), and four boiled eggs.

It was the last item that caused controversy. Each egg cost 8 zlotys (about 92 UAH). So four eggs cost 32 zlotys (almost 370 UAH); This was equivalent to the price of a full breakfast.

At the same time, Waldek emphasizes that he does not see this bill as a “horrible bill”; This is a common term in Poland for exorbitantly priced photographs. The traveler recalls that he was previously told: “If you don’t have money, stay at home and don’t go to the mountains.” Therefore, he considers this story more of a funny anecdote, clearly showing how expensive an ordinary chicken egg can cost in a high-altitude tourist resort.
