200 Year Old Gothic Tower Put up For Sale in England What’s The Price
A nearly 200-year-old Gothic tower is on sale in Britain: how much is it asking?
An unusual historic building, nearly 200 years old—a Gothic tower with a rooftop terrace and panoramic river views— has gone up for sale in the UK . The asking price is £300,000 (approximately $415,000).According to The Independent , the unusual property, known as Gazebo Tower, is located on the faux-Gothic city walls of Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire. The building is a Grade II listed building.
The three-story tower features one cozy bedroom and a private rooftop terrace with 360-degree panoramic views of the picturesque Vai River.
Due to the limited floor space, space here has been used as efficiently as possible. A walk-in shower is located next to the bedroom, and there’s another toilet on the ground floor. There’s also space under the bed for a bathtub, which is currently covered. All three floors are connected by a spiral staircase. The kitchen is on the ground floor, and the living room is on the second floor. The room features wood floors, a modern electric fireplace, and glass walls that let in light from the original windows.
The third floor features a bedroom with antique windows. The original stone arch, which houses a wardrobe, has also been preserved here. At the very top of the tower is a rooftop terrace, perfect for dining and entertaining.
The Gazebo Tower was built in 1833 as a decorative structure in the neo-Gothic style typical of the Victorian era. It served as a lookout point near the city walls. The building currently bears a blue plaque, which is used in the UK to mark historically significant buildings.
Real estate agency Hamilton Stiller describes the building as an “unusual and interesting” home that could also serve as a holiday retreat. The tower is located opposite the Royal Hotel, and the town center with its independent shops, restaurants, pubs, and bars is within walking distance. Ross-on-Wye also has a swimming pool, a theater, and several walking trails along the river and through woodland.
The building is equipped with a central heating system, connected to the central water supply and sewerage system, and has cable television.
As a reminder, an entire village is on the market in Spain for €850,000 . For that price, the buyer gets 11 houses, land, a former clinic, a shop, a chapel, and even a tennis court. The complex is located in the Viana do Bolo region of Ourense, Galicia, and is being marketed by the Spanish website Aldeasabandonadas.com. The combined usable area of the houses is 2,160 square meters. They feature 44 bedrooms and 21 bathrooms.
