Car plunges into irrigation canal in Mardin: 6 dead
Six people, including four children, lost their lives after the car they were traveling in plunged into an irrigation canal in the Nusaybin district of Mardin.The incident occurred near the rural neighborhood of Tepealtı, along the Mardin-Şırnak highway, when a car—driven by an individual whose identity has not yet been determined—veered into an irrigation canal.
Following reports of the accident, 112 Emergency Health services, fire department crews, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene.
Mehmet Şirin (11), Lavin (9), Zana (5), and Mert Öztürk (5)—all passengers in the vehicle—died at the scene.
Fikriye Öztürk (30) and Gülcan Öztürk (28), who sustained critical injuries, were transported to Nusaybin State Hospital by medical teams but could not be saved despite all interventions.
