MANTI SHOP REVEALED WHICH RUSSIAN FOOD THE FRENCH LIKE
A Parisian dumpling shop revealed which Russian dishes the French love most.
French customers at a Parisian dumpling shop most often order beef and pork dumplings, as well as borscht, according to owner Olivier Bardou.
“The most popular dish, of course, is the beef and pork dumplings with sour cream. Borscht also sells well—some people come just for it,” the restaurateur told RIA Novosti .
The café opened in June 2025. In addition to pelmeni and borscht, visitors are offered Olivier salad, vinaigrette, and vareniki with various fillings. Bardou would like to expand the menu, but he currently works alone and, according to him, is physically unable to prepare more than he currently offers. When expanding the menu, the owner intends to take into account the tastes of the French public. As Bardou explained, the French love mayonnaise, but prefer it in small quantities. Therefore, he considers the “Shuba” and “Mimosa” salads, so familiar to Russians, too specific for his customers.
The establishment’s decor also references Russian cuisine: the sign on the front door reads “Coffee and Dumplings,” and drinks are served in paper cups with a bear on them.
